David’s Bridal + Meet The Stylist Experience

As you all can tell from my many posts or the obvious ring on my hand — I’m engaged! It still feels pretty unreal to me but what does seem real is picking out a dress for our big day. I’ll be honest and say that I didn’t know exactly where to even start. So I did a little research and headed to my local David’s Bridal to be a part of their “Meet the Stylist” experience!

Can I just start by saying that my stylist Linda absolutely spoiled me with knowledge from beginning to end.

SO WHAT WAS THE GOAL?

The goal was to have at least (3) top picks by the end of the appointment that would be possible candidates for the big day. Sounds simple right? Ha. If I’m being completely honest with you all, this wasn’t the simplest task. As you all could imagine I fell in love with way too many but in the long run I realized that was totally a good thing.

My stylist (Linda) warmed me up in my session by asking personal questions that only I could answer. Questions such as “If you could pick any feeling that you would want to feel, what would it be?” My response “Dramatic, edgy and different” just to name a few things I threw out. Next she proceeded to ask about possible venues, bridesmaids, dates and such to get a better feel of where I was in my process. After taking a look at a few of my Pinterest boards (because Pinterest is totally a lifesaver) it was time to have some fun.

AND SO THE FUN BEGAN!

LET’S FIND THE ONE

We started off by going through all of the racks and learning about the different designers they carried and the styles of the collection. Once Linda filled me with the knowledge I needed to venture off on my own, she left me to browse the racks a few minutes alone. In that time frame I was able to select so many possible candidates to try on that the excitement was so overwhelming.  From lace, to sparkle and just a little bit of bling I was on the hunt.

Upon entering the fitting room I was greeted with lots of personal touches. A cute little “bride” silk robe, a bustier and a personal sticker with my information. They sure know how to butter a girl up! Immediately, I felt comfortable with my stylist and was ready to try on some gowns.

FIRST ROUND

Things we kept in mind and played with:

  • Comfort
  • Fit
  • Color

I learned about the different silhouettes one could choose from when it comes to gowns. From mermaid to A-line the options were endless.

SECOND ROUND

The second time around trying on dresses, my stylist (Linda) immediately took note that I’d fallen in love with gowns that had a bit of color on them  and to my surprise — she was totally right!  More pink and neutral undertones went hand in hand with what I was looking for. So, she took it upon herself to go pick out a few more dresses to have me try on just to make sure this was exactly what I liked. It totally was!

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM

Next, we moved on to take a look at some veils, heels and accessories to coordinate with the gowns. In this process we we’re able to get an understanding of what fit my taste and what could be possible candidates.

BECAUSE I’M A GIRL THAT LIKES NICE THINGS

I decided to check out a few more gowns that were not as formal but that could make the perfect dress to trade off as I transition from ceremony to reception on my big day. With this we stuck to more solid gowns. Something that was less heavy and more playful to dance around in.

Before we knew it, 90 minutes passed by and my stylist felt like a close friend. We wrapped up the session by jotting down my information to get all of the deets from the day. Before even leaving the store, I received an email from David’s Bridal! I couldn’t help but to snap a picture with my stylist Linda and thank her so much for her time and dedication during our session.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN MEETING WITH YOUR STYLIST:
  • It’s all about your wants and needs.
  • Keep your options open when arriving for your appointment. You may feel like you know exactly what you do and don’t want but sometimes it’s still worth a try.

  • Have fun and enjoy the experience
